The End of the Road for Dan

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls…

The road is long, with many a winding turn but, alas, due to the time we have left and the distance we need to cover it is no longer possible for me to carry on- All that there is to say is-Bugger!

This trip has been one insane experience from the beginning. Landy has zipped his way up, under and through desert, mountains and even Ethiopian roads (but has problems with basic roads in Tanzanian game parks). We've managed to cross borders where we chose to, drive through villages that felt like time warps and seen things that have totally blown our minds. In short, it was a bit of a giggle!

This is going to sound like a bit of Oscar's speech but some things must be said. I'd just like to say a big cheers to all those people who have actually been following this (with occasional interest apparently)- especially Zurich Bint Jen and her obsession with little African boys, Crackhead Baker for his interest and concern (he works at the Daily Yomuyuri you know), Bitch Leonne and wife whose sex dream updates kept me going when things were bad, Pete Stewart who still won't accept he's Canadian, Dayna the other normal Canadian for her concern and advice for immediate repatriation. Thanks to Reiko for being Reiko, Riki and his Lahore and Todd (an American with humour) for his request for a Dan Acton doll with detachable leg. Thanks to Mayumi for still being there and also to my long suffering parents whose lies have constantly plagued this website.

Thanks to the people at kleins Camp for knowing how to stop blood gushing from arteries, the flying doctors for agreeing to pick me up and the doctors at nairobi hospital for the good workmanship.

To all the other overlanders we traveled with- Jan the Animal impersonator, Analise and her Gang Bangs, Dancing Dietmar, Chief Mechanic Kirsten, The Italians who are still looking for the body of their Santa Claus, Auke in his new blue dress and Marieke with the African Customs book (or is she???).

Thanks to the Ethiopian border police for not being able to shoot, all the Mahmouds in Egypt for failing to sell us a fluka trip and eveyone in Ethiopia who learnt to say 'YOU'.

To all at Via Via- Wieke Konyagi, Matt the Yank with his clothes peg penis and Geoff with his 'Morning Teachers'.

The biggest thanks though goes to Carl, our superb web master, a guy who went beyond the call of duty in every respect and took the upmost pleasure in stitching us up at any opportunity.

The finished book entitled 'We started on September 11th' will be published this summer. The follow up Hollywood movie will be released next year. Apparently Michael Douglas has already agreed to play the part of 'Gav'.

Boys, both English and Belgian, 'you are dangerous cos you are honest'. Thanks for the Cacau, the Bee Gees, the klicks, going Turkish, desert dumping, bush shitting, teenage crashes, the errors, Alllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaach back and JESUS CHRIST!!

I'm going back to learn Spanish in preparation for 2004 (more later).

Dan Acton, 1 March. Arusha, Tanzania
